Job Opportunity: Pharmacist (Travel)

Location: Lewiston, Idaho
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Supervise and provide pharmaceutical care in the Department of Pharmacy.
• Provide medication appropriate to patient age and developmental status.
• Dispense and supervise inpatient and outpatient medications following legal and hospital policies.
• Responsibilities include:

  • Screening and prioritizing medication orders
  • Dispensing stat, now, and initial doses
  • Checking Pyxis loads and refills
  • Confirming IV admixture and chemotherapy admixtures for delivery
  • Refilling and checking code carts
  • Assisting with Medication Reconciliation
  • Documenting medication needs and interventions
  • Preparing and dispensing employee prescriptions
  • Compounding medications as required
  • Providing total parenteral nutrition services
  • Reviewing medication orders for appropriateness, interactions, allergies, contraindications, and duplications
  • Communicating with physicians for order clarifications or therapeutic alternatives
  • Acting as a drug information resource for healthcare staff and patients
  • Demonstrating clinical skills such as CrCl calculation, renal dosing, pain management, home health/hospice evaluation, initial dosing of gentamicin/vancomycin, and adverse drug event monitoring

Required Qualifications

• Valid Pharmacist license in Idaho
• Minimum 2 years of pharmacist experience, including experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Ability to work five 8-hour shifts per week with rotating weekends and call
