Job Opportunity: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

• Position: Med/Surg Telemetry RN, night shift
• Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Minimum 18 months recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
• Orientation: 32-40 hours paid at 50% of base hourly rate
• Must pass ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate exam during orientation

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 18 months (1.5 years) recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience within the last year
• Med/Surg experience
• Telemetry experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Certifications & Competencies

• Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA or American Red Cross (RQI acceptable)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – AHA or American Red Cross (RQI acceptable)
• NIH Stroke Certification – AHA, Apex, AACME, or Bluecloud only (updated annually)
• SafeMedicate and ECG competency exams during orientation (passing scores required)

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming ability to perform essential job functions
• Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 or 1870+) within 12 months, updated annually
• Immunizations/vaccinations required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination (required annually, no declinations accepted)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually
• Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start

Background & Documentation

• Government-issued photo ID required
• Background check including FCRA compliant 7-year search, updated annually
• FBI and BCI fingerprinting within 12 months, updated annually (code 4723.09 Nursing)
• Education verification required
• Employment application with 3 years prior work history including 2 years clinical acute care experience
• Two professional references from employment within 1 year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)

Orientation & Training

• Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
• Modules include safety, compliance, and facility policies
• Candidates must complete all modules before clearance to start
• Orientation includes competency testing (medication administration and ECG interpretation)

Additional Notes

• Candidates with a gap of less than 6 months since last Cleveland Clinic contract may have some orientation/testing waived
• Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID while on assignment
• Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification
• Religious and medical exemptions for vaccines and fit mask are accepted with proper documentation and approval
