Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Tech
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
- Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM EST
- Start Dates: 3/9 or 3/23 only
- Weekend Requirement: None
- On-Call Requirement: None
- Scrub Color: Wine or maroon
- First-Timer Travelers: Not accepted
- Local Candidates: Accepted (within 75 miles)
- Orientation: Bi-weekly
- Additional Requirements: Flu vaccine required; no exemptions or declinations accepted
Required Qualifications
- Valid Nuclear Medicine Technologist license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, including experience within the last year
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only
- ARRT Nuclear Medicine (ARRT N) certification or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (CNMT)
- Required charting experience with EPIC system
- Must have graduated from an AMA-approved Nuclear Medicine Technology training program
- Fit Mask (N95 or equivalent) within 12 months of start
- Flu vaccination required (no exemptions)
Prior Travel Experience
- Not required (First-timer travelers are not accepted, so prior travel experience is implied but not explicitly stated as required)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background checks including:
- SSN Trace, counties lived/worked/schooled in last 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC Sanctions List Search
- Education verification specific to Radiology/Cardiology specialties
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Immunizations/vaccinations:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (vaccines or positive titers; no exemptions)
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters if low/equivocal)
- Polio vaccine or attestation
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel within 30 days of start (no instant tests)
- Two professional references from employment within 12 months (one must be a supervisor)
- Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually)
- Pass/Fail testing on basic tech knowledge at orientation (minimum 80% to pass)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must set up a Duke Guest Account prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems
- Competency exams and facility-specific onboarding documents must be completed as required
- Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and training requirements
- No exemptions or declinations accepted for flu and other required vaccinations
This position is ideal for experienced Nuclear Medicine Technologists who meet the certification and documentation requirements and are able to commit to a 26-week travel contract with specified start dates.
