Facility Overview

• New 30-bed critical access hospital with 3 ORs, dedicated endoscopy and radiology spaces, and a 17-bed emergency department including two trauma bays
• Outpatient services include wound clinic, full laboratory, digital mammography, CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, and therapy services
• Recognized as an Acute Stroke Ready hospital with multiple honors from the American Heart Association and Stroke Association

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Acute Care, Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Step Down
• Number of Beds: 30
• Staffing (Day Shift): 4-5 RNs, 2-3 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)
• Staffing (Night Shift): 4-5 RNs, 2-3 PCTs
• Patient Ratios:

  • Med Surg: 6:1 (occasionally 7:1)
  • ICU/Step Down: 4:1 (typically more step down patients)
• EMR System: Cerner
• Shift Hours: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend minimum
• Dress Code: Navy Blue scrubs

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including PCU experience within the last year
• Experience in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Stepdown settings
• Completion of at least one prior travel nursing assignment
• Certifications:

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
• Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Preferred Skills and Procedures

• ICU experience preferred
• Typical procedures performed on unit:

  • Thoracentesis
  • Ventilator management
  • Arterial lines (A lines)
  • Central lines
  • Dressing changes
• Personality fit: Outgoing with strong teamwork skills
