Job Opportunity: RN - Behavioral Health
Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Information
- Unit: 6N, Saint Joseph Campus
- Number of Beds: 23
- Number of Staff: 15
- Shift Staffing:
- Day Shift: 4 RNs, 3 Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs), Sitters as assigned
- Night Shift: 3 RNs, 3 BHTs, Sitters as assigned
- Patient Ratios: 5-8 patients per nurse
- Equipment: Vital sign machines, glucometers, IV supplies (as needed), oxygen, code cart, bladder scanner
- EMR System: Cerner
Job Description
- Fast-paced behavioral health unit with up to 10 discharges and admissions per day
- Manage aggressive patients and psychiatric emergencies including rapid response and code blue situations
- Perform blood draws, IV insertions, and wound care
- Floating assignments may include other inpatient adult units and geriatric unit
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Behavioral Health nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with various behavioral health populations (adult, child, adolescent, geriatric)
- Ability to work well under high stress and fast-paced conditions
- Strong critical thinking, patience, compassion, and time management skills
Work Schedule & Environment
- Weekends required
- No on-call duties
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs; white top with navy pants or all white also acceptable
