Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)

Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work on a 16-bed Plastic Surgery and Limb Salvage unit with all-private rooms.
  • Provide post-operative care for patients undergoing complex procedures such as reconstructive plastic surgery, diabetic limb salvage with reconstructive flaps, complex wound management, and surgical wound care.
  • Collaborate closely with Nurse Practitioners, physicians, physical therapists, and clinical pharmacists.
  • Patient-to-nurse ratio: 1:6.
  • Rotating shifts including days and nights; flexibility is required.
  • Weekend rotation every other weekend; no on-call requirement.
  • Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity.
  • May come in contact with COVID-19 patients.
  • Flu vaccine is mandatory.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in District of Columbia.
  • Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, including experience within the last year.
  • At least 1 completed travel assignment.
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Experience with Cerner charting system.

Additional Requirements

  • Must have completed two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years.
  • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information.
  • Required to complete facility-specific modules and competency exams prior to start.
  • Must comply with background checks, drug screening, and health documentation including annual physical, immunizations (Flu, Tdap, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B), TB testing, and N95 fit testing.
  • Must pass medication/pharmacology competency exams and dysrhythmia/EKG competency exams within 1 year of start and maintain annual updates.
  • Must be able to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity.

Work Environment

  • Rotating shifts with day and night variations.
  • Collaborative interdisciplinary team.
  • Exposure to complex surgical and wound care patients.
  • Flu vaccine required.
  • Potential exposure to COVID-19 patients.

This position is ideal for experienced MS/Tele RNs who are flexible with shift rotations and have prior travel experience or are willing to complete travel assignments.
