Job Opportunity: Telemetry Registered Nurse (Tele RN)

Location: Freeport, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking a Telemetry RN with experience in stroke care and cath lab post recovery. The role involves caring for patients with diagnoses such as stroke, CHF, ACS, CAD, and post heart catheterization arrhythmias.

Required Qualifications

• Illinois RN license required
• Minimum 2+ years of recent experience in cath lab post recovery (femoral/radial) and stroke care (preferred)
• ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications required; phlebotomy certification is a plus
• Experience with drip medications (must have drip experience)
• Familiarity with Meditech is a plus

Job Details

• Unit: Telemetry (18 beds)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 4-5 patients during days, 5-6 patients during nights
• Common titratable medications: Set - Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dopamine; Titrate - Heparin
• RNs do not titrate drips on this unit
• Telemetry monitoring: RNs sign off on central telemetry strips; monitor tech responsible for central telemetry
• Equipment used: BiPAP, High Flow oxygen
• Shifts: 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Scheduling: Scheduled on shifts most in need
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday requirement: Holiday rotation
• Call/standby: No call for agency staff
• Floating: Yes, may float to ICU, Medical-Surgical, ER within scope of practice
• Orientation: Department-specific orientation of 2 twelve-hour shifts

Additional Information

• Charge nurse has patient assignment; nurse aides available with acuity-based ratios
• Scrub color: Any color allowed
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
