ICU RN Travel Nurse Opportunity - Illinois

Location

  • City: Freeport, Illinois

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Shift Details

  • 12-hour shifts (0700-1930 or 1900-0730)
  • Scheduled based on census and unit needs
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holiday rotation required
  • Floating required to MedSurg, Tele, ER with full patient load

Unit Information

  • ICU with 8 beds
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2-3 (some patients lower acuity)
  • Common diagnoses: Sepsis, General Medical, General Surgical, Stroke (TNK), DKA, Pneumonia, Alcohol withdrawal, Post cath recovery (radial/femoral sites)
  • No CVOR or abdominal surgical patients
  • Balloon pump cases rare and handled by core staff
  • ICU nurses run codes; Code Blue Command RN experience is a plus
  • Telemetry attached to unit; RNs responsible for monitoring strips (no monitor tech)
  • Hospitalist in-house 24/7 (daytime)
  • Respiratory therapy equipment available
  • Care support includes CNA/unit secretary when acuity warrants

Required Certifications and Licenses

  • Illinois RN license required
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS certification
  • NIHSS certification

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2+ years ICU nursing experience (higher value from data)
  • Code Blue Command RN and phlebotomy skills are a plus
  • Prior travel experience highly preferred (not explicitly required but strongly favored)
  • Meditech experience is a plus

Clinical Responsibilities

  • RNs expected to titrate drips (Levo, Neo, Propofol, Fentanyl, Precedex, Insulin, TNK, etc.)
  • Some medication mixing required
  • ICU nurse runs codes; other ICU nurses provide coverage during codes
  • Primary care nursing model

Orientation

  • Department-specific orientation: 2 shifts (12 hours each)
  • Documentation resource available during orientation

Additional Notes

  • Scrub color: Any professional color
  • No call or standby requirement for agency nurses
  • Core staff have call responsibilities
