Job Opportunity: Pharmacist Inpatient (Travel/Contract)

Location: Chesapeake, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Setting: Inpatient pharmacy
• Schedule: 40 hours/week, evening or overnight shifts only

  • Evening: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
  • Overnight: 8:30 PM – 7:30 AM (Monday – Thursday) and 7:30 PM – 7:30 AM (Friday – Sunday)
  • Rotation: 7 nights on / 7 nights off

Required Qualifications

• Valid Hospital Pharmacist license in Virginia
• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, PharmD, or RPh
• Minimum 1 year of hospital pharmacist experience within the last year
• Experience in an inpatient setting
• Experience with antibiotics, drug interactions, order entry, and medication order verification
• Experience with EPIC

Dress Code

• Professional dress or hunter green scrubs (scrubs not provided)

Required Certifications & Compliance

• Background checks including 7-year criminal history
• Government-issued photo ID required during hours of service
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Fit test for N95 mask within 1 year of start, updated annually (PAPR not allowed)
• Immunizations and titers:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred for most units)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella titers or declinations as applicable
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
• Flu vaccination required annually or approved exemption with mask requirement
• COVID vaccine preferred but not required
• Other competency exams and safety acknowledgments as applicable

• Proof of 2 professional references
• Completed employment application/resume
• Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually
• Fingerprinting required within first week of contract start (Virginia VSP National Criminal Background Check)
• Various facility-specific documents and acknowledgments required prior to start

Summary

This is a travel contract position for an inpatient pharmacist in Virginia requiring a valid VA pharmacist license, at least 1 year of inpatient pharmacy experience, and EPIC charting skills. Evening and overnight shifts are required with a 7-on/7-off rotation. Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory. Compliance with extensive background checks, immunizations, drug screening, and facility-specific documentation is mandatory.
