Operating Room Technician

Location: Hermiston, Oregon
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Facilitate operative or other invasive procedures by preparing and providing required sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment. Maintain the sterile field and anticipate/respond to the needs of the surgical team.

Key Responsibilities

• Function as a scrub person during operative and invasive procedures.
• Assemble and organize sterile supplies and instruments for procedures.
• Assist with placement of sterile drapes.
• Provide instruments and supplies to the surgical team during procedures.
• Maintain and ensure sterility of the sterile field, taking corrective actions as needed.
• Prepare sterile dressings.
• Clean and prepare surgical instruments for processing and transport to decontamination areas.
• Assist with post-procedure cleaning and preparation of procedure rooms.
• Participate in ongoing education and competency verification related to scrub person activities.
• Maintain privacy and confidentiality of patient and health information.
• May be floated to other qualified departments as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Surgical Technologist with at least 3 years of experience.
• Surgical Technologist experience within the last year.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
• CRASE training required if assignment extends beyond 6 months.

• No prior travel experience explicitly required.
