Critical Care ICU Nurse

Location

  • Green Bay, WI

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Unit Details

  • Level II Trauma Center
  • Level III NICU
  • Level III Maternity
  • Primary Stroke Center
  • Comprehensive Stroke Center
  • 167 beds total; 36 beds in this unit
  • Patient Types: Multi-specialty ICU with high acuity neuro, post-cardiovascular surgery, medical/surgical, trauma ICU
  • No pediatrics, burns, or transplants assigned to contract staff
  • Patient ratio: 1:2

Required Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of nursing experience in critical care

Certifications Required

  • RN license
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Skills Required

  • Management of tracheostomies, ventilators, chest tubes
  • Administration of vasoactive drips
  • Care for procedural recoveries and temporary pacemakers
  • Special competencies required for post-cardiovascular recoveries, CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy), and neuro patients (contract staff may not be assigned to these populations)

Support and Coverage

  • CNA support ratio 1:12
  • Charge nurse does not take patient assignments
  • Centralized telemetry monitoring with a tech
  • Bedside monitoring
  • 24-hour intensivist coverage on unit
  • Mid-level provider coverage
  • Full-time ICU educator
  • Cardiovascular coordinator

Technology and Equipment

  • EPIC electronic health record system
  • Alaris infusion pumps
  • Pyxis medication dispensing system

  • COVID-19 vaccine required
  • Scrub color: Any color allowed
  • Free parking available outside inpatient entrance
