Job Opportunity: Vascular OR Registered Nurse

Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 AM - 7:00 PM), Monday-Friday (36 hours/week)
  • On-call: Yes, 5-8 calls per month including weekends
  • Holiday Requirements: Holiday call may be required
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty
  • Specialty Experience: Must be able to scrub and circulate complex vascular cases
  • First-timers: Not preferred
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid RN license in South Carolina
  • CVOR with 2 years of experience, including CVOR experience within the last year
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Must be able to scrub and circulate complex vascular cases

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Assist with complex vascular procedures including but not limited to:
    • Endovascular, TEVAR, FEVAR, AAA, EVAR
    • Thrombectomy, Amputation
    • Carotid procedures, AV Fistula

Additional Requirements and Information

  • Local Radius Rule: 60 miles
  • Locals Accepted: Yes, on a case-by-case basis
  • Shift Cancellation: Facility may call off traveler 1 shift per 2 weeks (pay period)
  • Hurricane Season: Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June-November), with peak activity in August and September. Confirm availability before accepting assignments during this period.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Proof of work eligibility (I-9 attestation and documentation)
  • Copy of Driver’s License/State ID
  • Social Security Card or SSN verification
  • Background checks including criminal, sex offender registry, and employment history for the past 7 years
  • Education verification (diploma or transcripts preferred)
  • NURSYS license verification
  • Drug screening (10-panel within 90 days)
  • Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella titers or vaccination proof
    • Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
  • Physical exam updated annually attesting ability to meet job demands
  • Color blindness test prior to start
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Clear, passport-style photo for badge (frontal view, business casual attire)

Orientation and Onboarding

  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start (approximately 2 hours)
  • Upload vaccination records (COVID-19 vaccines highly preferred but not required; declination form accepted)
  • Radiation badge process may take 5-7 days; candidates cannot start without it
  • Employment application including all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
  • Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations

Notes for Candidates

  • Candidates must be prepared for on-call duties and holiday coverage.
  • Radiation badge is mandatory and must be obtained before starting clinical work.
  • Facility uses EPIC for charting.
  • Travelers should be aware of potential emergency assignments during hurricane season.
  • Locals may be considered but at a reduced rate.
  • Candidates with background issues may not be eligible for expedited licensure processes.
