Job Opportunity: MS/Tele Float Registered Nurse

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Float nurse position within Medical-Surgical/Telemetry units.
• Schedule: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (1900-0730).
• Must float within skillset and acuity.
• Required to work 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week period.
• Locals within 60 miles may be considered at a different rate.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
• Experience floating within nursing skillset and acuity.
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Certifications & Competencies

• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC certified.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred.
• NIH Stroke Certification required for MS/Tele and ICU units.
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (Relias) must be current and meet score requirements.
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required within 3 years.
• Color Blind Testing (online or in-person) required.
• Other certifications as required by unit description (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM) may apply depending on assignment.

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Criminal background check within 90 days, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years.
• Education verification of highest degree.
• Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana).
• Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps.
• Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years.
• Skills checklist and work history verification required.
• I9 and E-Verify attestation required.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to start and monthly thereafter.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease.
• Negative TB test (IGRA or PPD) within 1 year, updated annually; chest x-ray if history of positive TB.
• Tdap vaccine within last 10 years preferred.
• Documentation of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR).
• Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination.
• Varicella immunity documentation.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.

Additional Information

• Valid driver's license required if driving is an essential job function.
• Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start.
• Annual acknowledgment of safety manual.
• Photo for badge required (clear, well-lit, no glare, solid background).
• Must complete required competency exams and certifications as assigned.
• Must be able to work night shifts and float as needed.

This position is ideal for experienced travel nurses with strong telemetry and medical-surgical skills who are comfortable floating and working varied shifts including weekends.
