Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)

Location: Salina, Kansas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Patient Ratio: 1:6
Unit Details:

• 40-bed unit
• All surgical patients except cardiac (Ortho, Neuro, trauma, general surgery, Urology)
• Pre/post-op patients
• General pediatrics
• Floating to 4 Med unit (Nephrology, oncology, general medical, dialysis)
• May float to ED depending on needs

Required Experience & Skills

• Valid RN license in Kansas
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, including experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• Experience working with both Pediatric and Adult patients
• Experience with MEDITECH EMR
• Neurological/Psychiatric care
• Plastics care
• Respiratory care

Clinical Skills Include:

• Rapid Response/Code Teams
• Endocrine/Metabolic care
• Gastrointestinal, Genitourinary/Renal care
• IV therapy/Phlebotomy (starting IVs, etc.)
• Medication administration (Heparin, Insulin, PCA)
• Neurological/Psychiatric care (Pre/Post Neuro Surgery)
• Orthopedics (Ortho Trauma, Total Joint Replacements)
• Plastics (Surgical drains)
• Respiratory care (Chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, Oral Suctioning)
• Isolation Precautions
• Wound Care/Wound Vac

Licensure & Certifications

• ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Additional Requirements

• Prior travel experience required (one completed travel assignment)
• Must comply with a 100-mile radius rule for mileage approval
• Navy blue scrub color required
• Physical exam within 60 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or ARNP
• N95 Fit Test within 12 months (can be completed onsite during orientation if needed)
• Immunizations and health screenings required including:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
  • Hepatitis B immunity or declination
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
  • COVID-19 vaccine or declination accepted
• Drug screening required (10-panel, SAMHSA certified, within 60 days of start)
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, FACIS Level III
• Proof of highest degree earned (transcript/diploma or education verification)
• References: 2 professional references within 2 years required for travel positions
• Completion of facility-specific Healthstream modules prior to start (approx. 8 hours)
• Photo ID for badge required
