Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse
Location: Midland, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 16 weeks (minimum 13 weeks considered)
Start Date: Flexible, must start on a Monday
Job Description
- Registered Nurse rotating through triage, antepartum, labor, circulate, and transition (no post-partum)
- Must have certifications in NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Flexible start dates considered, with a minimum contract length of 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, with recent experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Experience
- Specialty: Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery
- Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated; standard RN experience expected
- Prior travel experience: Not required
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background Check: 10-year criminal background check required within 30 days of start, including SSN trace and all locations lived/worked
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; additional onsite drug screen during orientation
- Physical Exam: Required within 1 year of start, must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing
- Immunizations and Health Requirements (must be current or documented):
- TB test or chest X-ray (negative within 12 months)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or completed series)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – positive titer or 2 vaccines
- Varicella – positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history of chickenpox
- Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within 10 years
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or agency declination (required October 1 - March 31)
- N95 Fit Test required within 1 year of start (PAPR not accepted)
- References: 2 references within 3 years of start
- Employment Application/Resume required
- Skills Checklist: Must be updated annually
- Confidentiality and Security Agreement, Drug Screening Consent, TB Questionnaire, and other facility-specific documents must be reviewed and signed prior to start
Additional Notes
- Candidate must be prepared to complete all required documentation and certifications prior to or immediately upon start
- Orientation and compliance with facility-specific policies required
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced Labor and Delivery environment with multiple rotating assignments
