Job Summary

A professional Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the care of a group of patients, focusing on safe, effective patient- and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The RN assists in maintaining a financially stable unit and promotes professional development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members and applies the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans. The role includes mentoring and precepting staff while ensuring patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform assessments and reassessments according to policy or patient condition, making sound independent decisions.
• Initiate, prioritize, and implement the plan of care; collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
• Provide and evaluate education tailored to patient and family needs during stay and at discharge.
• Delegate tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel; serve as mentor/preceptor.
• Encourage teamwork and communicate opportunities for improvement.
• Participate in quality, safety, and service improvement efforts and implement practice changes.
• Comply with regulatory standards and participate in Practice Governance.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana
• Minimum 2 years of Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience in an inpatient setting
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system
