Registered Nurse (Neuro MedSurg) - West Virginia

Location

City: Morgantown, West Virginia

Contract Length

13 weeks

Unit Details

Unit: 6 West - Neuro
Beds: 20 (14 floor beds)
Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5-6 for floor patients
Nurse aide ratio: 1:7-10 with 3 nurse aides per shift
Charge Nurse available 24/7
Respiratory Therapy available 24/7; RNs are not required to have ventilator experience

Deep Brain Stimulators (DBS)
Stroke
Seizures
Surgical/Post-Op Spines
Neurological Disorders

Required Certifications and Skills

BLS (AHA) required
NIHSS certification required and must be in hand at time of submission
ACLS preferred
Recent Epic experience required
Strong neuro experience with proficiency in G-tube care

Clinical Information

RNs do not typically titrate drips; titration is done by physician orders in step-down settings
Common drips include: Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Nipride, Ketamine, Lasix, Bumex, Insulin
Telemetry is available; RNs do not read strips but verify monitor tech readings in Epic

Scheduling and Work Requirements

Weekend day shifts: Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Weekend night shifts: Friday-Sunday or Saturday-Monday
Weekday night shifts: every other weekend or 3 weekend shifts per schedule
Holiday work is required as part of rotation
Travelers should be flexible; 3 consecutive shifts may be allowed but not guaranteed
Possible floating to other units within the hospital

Orientation

One shift orientation on the unit (weekend night shift, 7pm-7:30am)

Required Qualifications

Registered Nurse (RN) license
BLS and NIHSS certifications (NIHSS must be current)
Recent Epic experience
Strong neuro med-surg experience

Additional Notes

Any current licenses must be disclosed at time of submission
Scrub color/dress code: any combination of white and royal blue
