Job Opportunity: Cytotechnologist (Travel/Contract)
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Job Description
- Work at two locations during the week: 2 days at one hospital and 3 days at another.
- Average workload: 7-15 specimens per day.
- Work hours: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
- Responsibilities include:
- Performing adequacy checks for FNA EBUS/ION procedures in the OR.
- Assisting with FNA procedures in various hospital areas.
- Slide screening.
Required Qualifications
- Cytotechnologist with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
- Recent cytotechnologist experience within the last year.
- Certification by AMT, ASCP, AAB, or NCA.
- Experience in an inpatient setting.
Required Certifications & Documents
- Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years.
- Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID).
- Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to perform essential job functions.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year.
- Drug screening (9-panel) within 30 days of start.
- Immunizations/vaccinations including:
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer.
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer.
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (if applicable).
- Other certifications as required by the facility/unit.
Additional Requirements
- Completion of unit-specific competency exams as applicable.
- Compliance with facility-specific policies including hand hygiene and floating policies.
- Consent to release information prior to start.
- Annual updates for certain certifications and health documents may be required.
- Must complete all required documentation and compliance prior to start date.
Notes
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position.
- Candidates must be prepared to work at multiple locations during the contract.
- Candidates should be proactive in completing all required exams and documentation to ensure timely start.
This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic inpatient laboratory setting with a focus on cytology and fine needle aspiration procedures.
