Radiation Therapist Travel Position

Job Description

The Radiation Therapist administers ionizing radiation and radioactive substances to patients under the supervision of a Radiation Oncologist, following New York State Department of Health guidelines. The role requires safe and accurate operation of high voltage machinery and effective communication regarding any equipment malfunctions. The therapist is responsible for patient welfare and must maintain professional conduct at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide radiation therapy as prescribed by a radiation oncologist according to established standards.
• Accurately enter and maintain patient treatment parameters in the electronic medical record.
• Interpret computerized treatment plans accurately.
• Observe patients daily for reactions and report any adverse reactions immediately to appropriate clinical staff.
• Facilitate complex problem solving related to technical issues.
• Adhere to radiation safety protocols set by NYSDOH, ARRT, and ACRO.

Equipment Used

• Varian Truebeam
• Varian 21ix

Required Qualifications

• Valid Radiation Therapist license in New York State
• Minimum of 2 years of Radiation Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
• ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification
• Completion of a Radiation Therapy Technology training program from an AMA-approved school meeting ARRT registry requirements

Contract Length

• Approximately 11 weeks
