Registered Nurse - Stepdown Neuro

Location: Hickory, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit: Neuro Progressive Care Unit (5th floor)
Department: NPCU 6730
Number of Beds: 20
Patient Population: Adult, Geriatric
Patient Ratios: Approximately 1 nurse to 22 patients
Shift: Not specified
Call Requirements: None
Float Requirements: Medical, Telemetry, Neonatal units
EHR System: Cerner (experience required)

Specialty Focus

Neuro Medical Strokes
Neuro-Orthopedic Surgeries
Overflow telemetry and medical patients
Common Diagnoses/Treatments: Stable post-stroke, stable neuro surgery patients, telemetry patients, medical patients

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
Minimum 2 years of experience in Neuro Progressive Care Unit (PCU), including experience within the last year
Stepdown nursing experience
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Experience with Cerner Electronic Health Record (EHR) system

Additional Notes

Candidates must reside at least 60 miles away to qualify for travel status
Orientation occurs bi-weekly
No weekend or call requirements specified
Dress code and scrub color not specified

This position is ideal for an experienced RN with neuro stepdown or progressive care experience, comfortable with telemetry and stroke patient care, and proficient in Cerner EHR.
