Registered Nurse - Stepdown Neuro

Location: Hickory, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Overview

Unit: Neuro Progressive Care Unit (NPCU), 5th floor
Beds: 20
Patient Population: Adult, Geriatric
Patient Types: Stable post-stroke, stable neuro surgery patients, telemetry patients, medical patients
Patient Ratio: Approximately 1 nurse to 22 patients
EHR System: Cerner
Call Requirements: None
Float Requirements: Medical, Telemetry, Neonatal units

Job Description

Specialty: Neuro Medical Strokes, Neuro-ortho surgeries, overflow telemetry and medical patients
Shift and weekly guaranteed hours: Not specified
Orientation: Bi-weekly
Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to be considered for travel

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
Minimum 2 years of experience in Neuro Progressive Care Unit (PCU), with at least some experience within the last year
Stepdown nursing experience
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Experience with Cerner electronic health record system

Additional Notes

No call requirements
Facility includes multiple specialty centers such as Brain Center, Cancer Center, Heart Center, Lung Center, Orthopedics, Surgical Weight Loss, Women’s Center, and Level 3 NICU
Behavioral Health Hospital located on a separate campus
Cerner experience is required
