Job Opportunity: Pathologist Assistant

Location: Lansing, Michigan
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work hours: 08:30 AM – 05:00 PM (Main hospital location)
• No weekends or call requirements
• Floating coverage between main hospital and a nearby reference lab (reference lab hours: 09:30 AM – 06:00 PM)
• Daily workload includes processing approximately 600-700 blocks, involving complex surgical cases, small biopsies, and outreach specimens

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Pathologists' Assistant within the last year
• Certification: ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology)
• Education: Bachelor's degree from a Pathologists' Assistant program

Additional Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License/State ID
• Social Security Card
• Background checks including criminal history, education verification, and others as applicable
• Physical exam within 12 months of start, noting latex sensitivity
• Immunizations and health documents including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity verification
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or immunity
  • Varicella immunity
  • 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (required during flu season)
• Competency exams and skill checklists as applicable
• Facility-specific orientation and safety acknowledgements

Notes

• Prior travel experience is not required for this position
• Fingerprinting requirements apply only for certain Michigan locations and roles involving homecare or hospice, not specified for this role
• No weekend or call shifts required, suitable for those seeking standard weekday hours
