ICU Registered Nurse Travel Job - Arizona

Location: Show Low, Arizona
Job Type: Travel ICU Nurse
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Three 12-hour night shifts per week (1800-0630)
Schedule: Modified self-scheduling with some flexibility; minimum 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
Orientation: Every Monday
Start Date: ASAP

Unit Details

• ICU with 12 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 1:2
• Respiratory Therapist available 24/7
• Support staff includes Patient Care Technicians and Health Unit Secretaries
• Nurse manager may occasionally assist with patient care
• May float to Emergency Department or Medical-Surgical units if experienced

Patient Population & Common Cases

• Cardiology cases: Left Heart Catheterizations, Coronary Interventions, STEMIs, Temporary Pacemaker and IABP insertions
• Common diagnoses: Pneumonia, ventilated patients, post-cardiac cath, EVAR, surgeries, alcohol/overdose, ARDS, DKA, stroke post-tPA, atrial fibrillation with RVR, sepsis, renal failure
• No open heart or neuro surgeries; no fresh transplants (patients with history of transplant possible)

Equipment & Skills

• Experience with basic ICU equipment required
• Equipment used includes GE floor-mounted C-Arm and Table, Volcano System, Cardiology Hemodynamics System, Getinge IABP
• Common drips: Amiodarone, Cardizem, Levophed, Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl, Vecuronium, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Lasix, Insulin, Heparin (weight-based), Norepinephrine
• Ventilator patients typically 1-2 at a time
• Hypothermia protocol experience helpful
• IABP experience is a plus but not required

Required Qualifications

• Active Arizona RN license or compact RN license
• Minimum 2 years ICU nursing experience
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
