Travel/Contract Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical)

Location: Decatur, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Specialty: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse
• Shift: 4x12 or 3x12 Night shifts (1800-0630)
• Average Daily Census: 35 patients
• Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
• Floating: May float within scope to meet department needs
• Schedule Flexibility: Block schedule requests can be discussed with manager
• Local Candidates: Accepted with no radius restrictions
• RTO Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days off
• Charting System: Cerner
• Scrub Colors: Blue, black, or gray
• Parking: Permit required, no cost

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience (higher experience requirement confirmed)
• Active Illinois RN license or in application process with ETA to apply
• BLS certification required
• Med/Surg experience mandatory
• Experience with:

  • Cardiac Monitoring & Emergency Response (Telemetry, Rapid Response Teams)
  • Gastrointestinal care (Colostomy care, Feeding tube management)
  • Genitourinary/Renal care (Pre/Post Hemodialysis management, Renal failure)
  • IV therapy/Phlebotomy (Accessing ports, Blood product administration, Central line blood draws, Peripheral line care, PICC line management, Starting IVs)
  • Medication administration (Heparin, Insulin, PCA)
  • Respiratory care (CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula, Nasal Cannula, Non-invasive airway management, Oral suctioning, Oxygen face masks, Portable oxygen tanks, Tracheostomy management)
  • Professional knowledge in Isolation Precautions and Wound Care/Wound Vac
• Cerner experience required
• First-time travelers not accepted (prior travel experience required)

Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) required
• ACLS and PALS may be required based on unit/specialty

Additional Requirements

• Must work every other weekend
• Must be able to float as needed
• Background checks and verifications as per Illinois state and facility requirements
• Physical exam within one year of start date
• Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within one year
• Drug screening (9-panel) within 30 days of start
• Immunizations or documented immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
• References and skills checklist required for clinical candidates

• Candidate must be prepared for potential call-offs up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay
