Description

Job Opportunity: Nursing Float Pool

Position Details

Discipline / Specialty: Nursing Administration / Pediatric ICU (PICU)
Employment Type: Contractor
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (Night Shift)
Schedule Cycle: 6 weeks
Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
Holiday Work: Travelers expected to work 75% of holidays
Floating Assignments: NICU, General Pediatrics

Unit Information

Unit Type: Pediatric ICU / PCICU
Beds: 19-23
Average Daily Census: 15-18 patients
Patient Types: Respiratory, Congenital Heart Disease, Hematology/Oncology, Post-op, Trauma
Patient Ratios: RN to patient ratio is 2:1

Required Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in specialty
Illinois Nursing License
Certifications: BLS required; PALS and NRP preferred
First-time travelers are accepted (no prior travel experience required)

Support and Resources

CNA support for patient room prep, cleaning, and some patient care
Receptionist / HUC available
Charge nurse assigned per department
In-house phlebotomy (primarily for general floors)
IV/VAT team available
Respiratory Therapist available 24/7
Hospitalist and Intensivist coverage 24/7
Telemetry monitoring/tech support as needed
Resource nurse availability depends on staffing and acuity

Orientation

Neonatal orientation provided
2 days departmental orientation in PICU/PCICU

IV Pumps: Alaris
Medication dispensing: Pyxis
Monitors: Med sonic
Unit-specific PICU supplies
