Description

Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse

Location: Jacksonville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • No block scheduling available
  • Float to Emergency Room (ER), Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), Telemetry/Med-Surg as needed
  • Includes weekends and holidays
  • No on-call required
  • Patient Ratios:
    • ICU: 1:1, 2:1, or 3:1 depending on acuity
    • IMCU: 5:1
  • ICU patient population includes adults with conditions such as renal failure, shock, overdose, alcohol withdrawal, pulmonary edema, sepsis, acute renal failure, acute obstetrics stabilization, and post-surgical critical care
  • Pediatric patients may be treated in the adult ICU as there is no dedicated pediatric ICU

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Current certifications issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification

Additional Requirements

  • Must be willing to work within a 50-mile radius (no local candidates within this radius accepted)
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and drug screening required
  • Health documents required:
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Immunizations/vaccinations including Tdap, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu seasonal vaccination (or approved exemption during flu season)
    • COVID-19 vaccination proof or declination form if unvaccinated
  • Facility-specific documents and attestations must be completed and signed prior to start, including confidentiality, code of conduct, vehicle registration, and communication standards
  • Orientation includes completion of LMS modules and possible on-site training for Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) for ER nurses

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
  • No call responsibilities
  • Float assignments may require flexibility across multiple units
