Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy in the care of individuals and families. The RN ensures compliance with nursing standards and professional development according to state regulations and nursing codes of ethics. The role promotes a caring and healing environment focused on patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients, serving as primary or accountable nurse as assigned.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
• Administer medications safely with knowledge of pharmacology.
• Participate in resource utilization including staffing, time management, and supplies.
• Comply with nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements.
• Support nursing governance, improvement initiatives, and peer review.
• Engage in professional development and complete mandatory education.
• Integrate nursing research and evidence-based practice.
• Provide a supportive learning environment for new staff and students.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
• Minimum of 5 years of Med Surg nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Experience in a cardiac telemetry department.
• Experience with Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR).
• Experience with Watchman device procedures.
• Experience with Mitral Clip procedures.
• Experience with heart catheterizations.
• Experience with preoperative and postoperative care for open heart surgery patients.
• Experience managing cardiac drips at a flat rate.
• Experience caring for patients with congestive heart failure (CHF).
• Experience with chest pain (CP) management.
• Experience managing arrhythmias.
• Experience with Non-ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction (NSTEMI).
• Experience with ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI).
• Experience with pulmonary embolism (PE).
• Experience with postoperative care for Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) patients beyond 3 days.
• Experience managing sepsis patients.
• Experience caring for stroke patients.
• Experience with observation patients.
• Experience with TR band use and groin management.
• Experience in telemetry Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
