Registered Nurse - ICU

Location: Austin, Texas
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
On Call: No on-call required

Unit Information

Unit Type: ICU
Number of Beds: 20
Number of Staff: 55
Typical Staff per Shift:
- Day Shift: Charge nurse + 10 RNs
- Night Shift: Charge nurse + 10 RNs
Patient Ratios: 2:1 or 1:1
Equipment Used: GE bedside monitors, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis, Prismax CRRT, Tablo SLED
Electronic Medical Record: Meditech

Schedule & Call Requirements

Weekend shifts required:
- Day shift: 4 weekend shifts per schedule (Saturday/Sunday)
- Night shift: 6 weekend shifts per schedule (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience within the last year
ACLS certification
BLS certification
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Experience with titratable drips
Understanding of hemodynamics
Experience with respiratory care including vents, BiPAP, tracheostomies, and Airvo

Typical Procedures Performed

Central line and chest tube insertion
Bronchoscopies
Tracheostomies
Lumbar punctures
Intubation
