Pharmacist Travel Job – Panama City, Florida

Job Type

• Travel assignment
• Contract length: 26 weeks

Work Schedule

• 10-hour shifts
• Night shift: 8:00 PM – 6:30 AM
• 7 days on, 7 days off
• Rotating weekends
• 40 hours per week

Unit & Facility Overview

• 282-bed acute care hospital with Level III NICU, PICU, and Pediatrics units
• 24/7 staffing including holidays
• Meditech information system and Meditech Magic documentation system
• Pyxis ES medication cabinets throughout hospital
• Hospital scrubs in grey required as uniform

Job Description

The clinical pharmacist is responsible for the safe, effective, evidence-based, and cost-effective selection and use of medications. The role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, adherence to medication safety and regulatory guidelines, and patient advocacy in pharmaceutical care.

Key Responsibilities

• Verify and interpret medication orders (verbal and written) for accuracy and appropriateness
• Prepare and dispense medications, including sterile, limited chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition preparations following USP 797 & 800 guidelines
• Develop and implement drug therapy management protocols (pharmacokinetics, anticoagulation dosing, IV to PO conversions, pain management, antimicrobial stewardship, pharmacy-directed dosing)
• Issue and monitor controlled substances according to legal and policy requirements
• Detect, report, and help prevent adverse drug reactions and medication errors
• Supervise pharmacy support personnel and verify daily activities of pharmacy technicians
• Troubleshoot and clarify computerized order entries and Pyxis system issues
• Maintain adherence to the organization’s Code of Conduct and Mission and Value Statement

Required Qualifications

• Valid Clinical Pharmacist license in Florida
• PharmD or Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy
• Minimum 2 years of clinical pharmacist experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience in pharmaceutical calculations
• Experience in pharmacokinetic dosing of Aminoglycoside and Vancomycin
• Experience in Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) calculations

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with NICU, PICU, and Pediatrics patients is a plus
• BLS and ACLS certifications helpful but not required
