Job Description

• Work in a 225-bed specialty care hospital with services including Heart & Vascular, Cancer Center, Brain & Spine, Rehab, Behavioral Health, Digestive Health, Bariatric Medicine & Weight Management, Women's Health, and Pediatrics.
• Facility offers premier imaging, surgery, and laboratory services.
• Located in the central region of Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

Position Details

• Department: Acute Medical/Surgical
• Shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
• Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
• Weekend Hours: Rotating
• Float Requirements: Occasional to preferred unit
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric (ages 18-125)
• Patient Ratios: 5:1 to 6:1
• Equipment Used: Telemetry monitors, Baxter IV pumps, Kangaroo pump, Bladder scanner, Dynamaps
• Electronic Health Record (EHR) System: Cerner

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan
• Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Additional Information

• Orientation occurs bi-weekly
• Local candidates must live 60 miles or more from the facility to be considered for travel status
• Dress Code: Galaxy Blue scrubs preferred (Navy acceptable)
• Fingernails must be clean, short, and comply with Hand Hygiene Policy
• Tattoos that may be considered offensive must be covered
• Excessive jewelry is not allowed

Summary

This travel RN position in Medical/Surgical nursing requires at least 2 years of experience, ACLS certification, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. The role involves working night shifts with rotating weekends in a specialty care hospital serving adult and geriatric patients. A BSN is preferred.
