Job Opportunity: Echo Tech Cardiac Sonographer Pediatrics
Location: Decatur, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Perform adult and pediatric echocardiograms (echos).
- Shift schedule includes a mix of 8- and 10-hour day shifts based on department needs, with start times between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM.
- Work 40 hours per week, either 5 days of 8-hour shifts or 4 days of 10-hour shifts.
- On-call required: typically one weekday and every 3rd to 4th weekend (may vary due to vacations or leaves).
- Floating within scope of practice may be required to meet facility needs.
- Locals accepted with no radius restrictions.
- Must be physically present in Illinois 3 business days prior to start for fingerprinting compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Echo Tech (cardiac sonographer).
- Pediatric echocardiography experience (2 years), including experience within the last year.
- Adult echocardiography experience.
- Certifications required:
- ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography)
- RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Experience with bubble studies.
- Experience with imaging using contrast agents.
- Proficient in M-Mode echocardiography.
- Experience with pharmacologic stress echocardiography.
- Experience performing portable studies.
- Experience with Right Ventricular Inflow Tract (RVIT) and Right Ventricular Outflow Tract (RVOT) imaging.
- Experience with transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE).
- Experience with treadmill stress echocardiography.
- On-call availability required.
- Must have skills in both adult and pediatric echo procedures.

Compliance and Onboarding Requirements
- Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
- Drug screening (9-panel) within 30 days of start.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Immunizations and/or titers for MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B, and seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption.
- TB testing (2-step PPD, TSPOT, or Qgold) within 1 year.
- Fingerprinting must be completed in Illinois 3 business days prior to start.
- Competency exam required.
- Professional references (2) required.
- Various state-specific criminal and abuse registry checks required within 30 days of start.
Additional Notes
- Schedule accommodations can be discussed with management.
- Candidate must complete badge photo and code of conduct acknowledgment.
- Flu vaccine exemptions (medical or religious) require documentation.
- Fit mask testing required for new contracts.
- Candidate must be able to work both adult and pediatric patient populations.
This position is ideal for experienced Echo Techs with strong skills in both adult and pediatric echocardiography, who are comfortable with on-call responsibilities and working in a Level II trauma acute care hospital setting.
