Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiovascular Surgery

Location: Tomball, Texas
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

• Unit: Surgery Department (Cardiovascular OR)
• Number of Beds: 11 ORs and a Cysto room
• Staff: 31 total

  • Day Shift: 1 Director, 1 Charge Nurse, multiple Circulators and Surgical Techs, 3 Nurse Techs, 1 Anesthesia Tech, 1 Unit Clerk
  • Night Shift: No overnight shift
• Patient Ratios: 1:1
• EMR System: Meditech

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 3 years of recent cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) experience, including experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
• On and off pump Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Cardiovascular OR experience
• Vascular surgery experience

Typical Procedures Performed

• Off Pump CABG
• On Pump CABG
• Vascular Bypass
• Carotid Endarterectomy

Work Schedule & Call

• Call coverage Monday through Friday, 3 PM to 7 AM (one RN covers call; schedule may change with additional staff)
• No overnight shifts on the unit
• Weekend call rotation may apply once staffing increases
