Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg

Location: Manchester, New Hampshire
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Overview

• Med Surg unit with 48 beds (average census 27)
• Patient Ratios: 1:5 (days), 1:6 (nights)
• Staffing includes unit secretary (7am-11pm) and Patient Care Technicians (PCT) with occasional 1:1 coverage
• Equipment: Hoyer lift, automated BP machines, bladder scanner, remote telemetry monitoring, vein finder
• Documentation system: Altera/Allscripts Sunrise
• Scheduling: Every other week (EOW), 12-hour shifts preferred
• Floating: Floats to like Med Surg units; travelers generally float first
• Participation in daily multidisciplinary rounds (MDRs) on day shift Mon-Fri at 10:30-11:15am
• Team-oriented environment focused on patient care excellence

• Established unit practice council (UPC) meeting monthly

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Hampshire
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Central line management experience (PICC, HD catheter, and midlines)

Procedures Performed on Unit

• Nasogastric tube (NGT) care and management

Dress Code

• No required uniform
• Scrubs and closed-toe shoes (no crocs)
