MRI Technologist

Location: Rockford, Illinois
Contract Length: 26 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking an MRI Technologist with at least 2 years of MRI experience and ARRT (MR) certification. The role involves routine imaging including stroke and trauma cases, patient transport, clerical duties, patient preparation, safety screening, scanning, starting IVs, and EMR navigation/documentation.

Requirements

• Licensure: Active Illinois license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• Certifications:

  • BLS (AHA)
  • Certified MRI Technologist - ARRT (MR)
• Experience: Minimum 2 years MRI experience; MRI certification required
• Preferred: Experience with GE equipment
• Other: Must produce a negative drug screen; tattoos must be covered; no body piercings except earrings

Work Environment & Details

• Department has 2 MRI scanners/rooms
• No floating or covering other areas required
• Average 25-30 scans per day
• EMR system: Epic
• PACS system: McKesson
• Equipment: GE MRI machines
• Radiologist available in-house except after hours
• Starting IVs required
• Shift length: 8 hours
• No weekend or holiday requirements
• No call or standby required
• Dress code: Any color professional scrubs (not provided)

Orientation & Scheduling

• Orientation typically lasts one week (about 10 hours) with start times at 6:30, 9:00, or 10:30 AM
• Call every 5th weekend plus 1 night per week; weekend in-house coverage starts typically at 9 AM every 6th weekend

Additional Notes

• Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius
• Drug-free workplace policy enforced with required negative drug screening
• No Registered Radiology Assistants (RRA) used in the department
