Job Description
Seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for Respiratory Services specializing in NICU/Pediatrics. CRTs are not acceptable. Must have a North Carolina Respiratory Therapist license in hand prior to submission.
Unit Information
- Unit: Respiratory Services NICU/Peds
- Beds:
- 51 bed Level 3 NICU
- 10 bed PICU
- 20 bed Pediatric floor
- Staff:
- 17 NICU/Peds RRTs (120 total staff)
- Shifts:
- Day Shift: 3-4 RRTs for NICU/Peds
- Night Shift: 3-4 RRTs for NICU/Peds
- Patient Ratios: 10 - 25 patients
- Equipment Used:
- Draeger Infant/Peds vents
- HFOV
- Infant Flow SiPAP
- Newport HT70 and Hamilton T1 and C1 transport vents
- Vapotherm
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Cerner
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in North Carolina (must have license in hand before applying)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential with NBRC certification
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including at least 2 years providing respiratory therapy services for NICU/Pediatrics
- Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
Preferred Qualifications
- NPS (Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist certification)
Typical Procedures
- High risk deliveries
- Airway and ventilator management
- Intubation and extubation
- Capillary and arterial blood gas collection and analysis
Work Environment
- Floating to general adult medical floors may be required
- Dress code: Medium Gray/Pewter scrubs
- Weekend shifts: At least 4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule, varying weekends
- On-call requirements may apply
Summary
This travel RRT position offers the opportunity to work in a high-acuity NICU/Pediatric respiratory unit with advanced ventilator equipment and a supportive team environment. Candidates must hold a current NC Respiratory Therapist license and have at least 2 years of experience in the specialty. Certifications in BLS, PALS, and NRP are required, with ACLS and NPS preferred.
