Cath Lab Tech - Travel/Contract

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
• Shift: 4x12 hour days (06:30 - 19:00), open to 3x12 hour shifts as well
• Weekend Requirement: 2-3 weekends per contract
• On-Call: Yes, rotating call as needed with staff and agency; flexible per census
• Floating: No floating outside scope of practice
• Schedule: Block schedule requests can be discussed
• Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
• Pending License: Not accepted; must have active license
• Return to Office Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 1 year experience in specialty required (higher value confirmed)
• First-time travelers accepted
• Required work setting experience: Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiac Cath Lab
• Required procedural skills:

  • Cardiac Implant Closure Device
  • Cardiac Stent Placement
  • Diagnostic Catheterizations (Adult)
  • IABP Placement/Removal
  • Interpretation of Dysrhythmias
  • Left and Right Heart Catheterization
  • Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI)
  • Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA)
  • Rotablader Athrectomy
  • Scrub Procedures
• Procedural responsibilities: Equipment setup, recognition of life-threatening arrhythmias
• Infection control: Isolation precautions, sterile technique
• Age-specific competencies: Middle and older adult patients
• Electronic Health Record: Cerner experience required

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Active license appropriate for Cath Lab Tech role
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
• RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist)

Facility & Work Environment

• Acute Care Hospital, Level I Trauma Center
• Magnet recognized facility
• 562 staffed beds
• Scrub color provided
• Charting via Cerner
• Parking permit required, no cost

Additional Requirements

• Background checks including criminal, sex offender, and other state-specific searches within 30 days of start
• Drug screening (9 panel) within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within one year of start, including labs within 7 days of contract signing
• Fit mask testing required (specific mask types accepted)
• Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required annually
• References: 2 professional references required
• Competency exam required for clinical candidates
• Badge photo required prior to start
• Illinois state fingerprinting and healthcare worker registry requirements apply for those without an IL license (must be completed in Illinois)

Requirements / Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Cath Lab Technologist, with experience within the last year
• Experience in both Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiac Cath Lab settings
• Proficient in the following procedures and skills:

  • Cardiac Implant Closure Device
  • Cardiac Stent Placement
  • Diagnostic Catheterizations (Adult)
  • IABP Placement and Removal
  • Interpretation of Dysrhythmias
  • Left and Right Heart Catheterization
  • Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI)
  • Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA)
  • Rotablader Athrectomy
• Experience with Cerner Electronic Health Record system
• Current certifications:
