Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Camden, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse – Operating Room (OR)
- Shift: 5 days per week, 8-hour day shifts (6:45 AM – 3:15 PM)
- Weekend Requirement: Typically every 4th weekend, with weekday coverage
- On-Call: Yes, weekday call from 3 PM to 7 AM on a rotating basis
- Floating: Required to float within scope to meet facility needs, including between like units
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 4 years of Operating Room (OR) RN experience, including OR experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

- Beds: 119 staffed beds
- Charting System: Epic
- Scrubs: Surgical scrubs provided
- Parking: Free parking available in unrestricted areas
Important Notes
- Hurricane Season: Assignments during June through November may include emergency response duties; peak months are August and September. Candidates should consider this before accepting new or extension assignments.
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks.
- Local Candidates: Accepted on a case-by-case basis.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Must include 7 years of residence/work history
- SSN trace, state and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Must be run within 90 days of start
- Education Verification: Required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if verification pending
- Licensure Verification: Primary source verification required; SC RN license must be active, unencumbered, and no pending actions
- NURSYS Verification: Required for all RNs
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; no instant tests accepted
- Physical Exam: Must be completed within 90 days of start, updated annually, confirming ability to meet physical demands without restrictions
- Immunizations & Health:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form required
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or appropriate follow-up documentation
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titers or vaccination series required
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug 1 – Apr 30) or medical/religious exemption; declinations not accepted
- COVID vaccines highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Respirator Clearance: Annual medical clearance required via RespSafety questionnaire
- Radiation Badge: Required for OR RNs and certain other specialties; must be obtained prior to starting patient care
- Photo for Badge: Passport-style color photo with solid light background required
Orientation & Onboarding
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules and first day instructions is mandatory before starting
- Modules typically take 2-6 hours depending on location
- COVID and flu vaccination documentation must be uploaded into the facility’s system prior to start
- References: Two clinical references required, including at least one from the unit of assignment
- Employment history verification of last 3 clinical employers required
Additional Information
- Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed
- Floating between units and sister facilities is expected within scope of practice
- Local radius for travel candidates is approximately 60 miles
This position is ideal for experienced OR Registered Nurses with a valid South Carolina license and required certifications, ready to work day shifts in an acute care hospital setting with occasional on-call and weekend responsibilities.
