Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Location: Roanoke, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

Seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with critical care experience to work in a high-volume Emergency Room at a Level 1 Trauma Center. The role involves caring for adult patients, including neurotrauma, cardiovascular, and medical/surgical ICU cases.


Schedule

  • 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7 PM – 7 AM, nights)
  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week block
  • Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
  • Facility allows calling off 1 shift per 2 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Virginia
  • Minimum of 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • Proficient in ventilator management
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Unit & Patient Population

  • Patient ratio approximately 1:25
  • Patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
  • Floating within skillset may be required
  • Equipment used includes Servo I, Servo U, V-60 BiPAP, Optiflow heated high flow, iNO with the iNOvent, and LTV1200 ventilators
  • Robust Assess and Treat protocols with ventilator management and liberation policies in place

Additional Requirements

  • Charting experience with EPIC required
  • Must submit all requests for time off with application
  • Locals are not accepted due to radius restrictions
  • Must provide professional photo for badge
  • Background checks, education verification, and various health documents (including physical exam, fit testing, TB screening, immunizations, and drug testing) required per facility policy
  • Two clinical references required
  • Complete application/resume and skills checklist required

This is a travel contract opportunity for an experienced Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with strong critical care skills, ready to work nights in a busy Level 1 Trauma Center ER.
