Job Description

Provide inpatient rehabilitation nursing care for adult patients recovering from strokes, brain or spinal cord injuries, amputations, multiple trauma, cancer, complex orthopedic injuries, and other conditions. The role emphasizes improving patients' functional ability and quality of life through a comprehensive treatment approach addressing physical, emotional, and psychological needs. Collaborate closely with therapists, physicians, specialists, and family members.

Unit Profile

• Department: Rehab (Med/Surg)
• Shift: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Float Requirements: Float within 5 hospital units (Stroke, Comprehensive, Medically Complex, Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury)
• Patient Population: Adults (18+ years)
• Number of Beds: 81 private rooms
• Patient Ratios: Approx. 1:6-7 (day), 1:8 (night) with dedicated tech support
• Electronic Health Record (EHR): Epic

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of experience in rehabilitation nursing, including experience within the last year
• BLS (CPR) Certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) credential

• Influenza vaccination required or approved exemption with masking during flu season (Nov 1 – Mar 31)

• Nurses will work in a specialized rehab hospital environment with features such as brain injury units, stroke care units, high-tech therapy gyms, and family-friendly patient rooms.
• The role supports patients through recovery with a focus on movement, strength, flexibility, balance, and functional ability.
