Job Opportunity: Pharmacist Inpatient
Location: Chesapeake, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- 40 hours per week
- Evening or overnight shifts only
- Evening: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
- Overnight: 8:30 PM – 7:30 AM (Monday – Thursday)
- Overnight: 7:30 PM – 7:30 AM (Friday – Sunday)
- Schedule follows 7 nights on / 7 nights off rotation
Required Qualifications
- Valid Hospital Pharmacist license in Virginia
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD
- Minimum 1 year of inpatient hospital pharmacy experience within the last year
- Experience in an inpatient setting
- IV experience
- Pain controlled analgesia experience
- Experience with Epic
Prior Travel Experience
- Travel experience preferred but not required
Certifications & Compliance Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history and federal exclusions
- Primary source verification of state license
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Fit test for N95 mask within 1 year, updated annually (PAPR not allowed)
- Immunizations and titers required within 10 years or as specified:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for certain units)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, annual TB testing required
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination required annually or approved exemption with mask-wearing
- COVID-19 vaccine preferred but not required
Additional Requirements
- Proof of 2 professional references
- Completed employment application/resume
- Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Photo for badge (passport style, shoulders up, plain background) required before start
- Fingerprinting required within first week of contract start (Virginia state requirement effective 1/1/2026)
Notes
- Facility has zero tolerance for background check issues; any hits may result in cancellation
- Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID during hours of service
- Candidates must complete required facility-specific documents and acknowledgments prior to start
