Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical Neuro

Location: Decatur, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Nights, either 4x12 or 3x12 hour shifts (1800-0630)
• Average Daily Census: 32 patients
• Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
• Floating: May float within scope as needed
• Schedule: Open to block schedule requests (discuss with manager)
• Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
• On-call: Not required
• Guaranteed Hours: Subject to client call-offs up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment

Required Experience & Skills

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Medical Surgical - Neuro nursing, with Med Surg experience within the last year
• Experience in an Acute Care setting
• Stroke experience
• Certifications issued by the American Heart Association: ACLS, BLS, PALS
• NIHSS certification
• Telemetry (remote monitoring) experience
• Rapid Response Teams experience
• Central line blood draw experience
• PICC line management experience
• Pre/post neuro surgery case experience
• Spinal cord injuries case experience
• Traumatic brain injury case experience
• Surgical drains experience
• Chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac) experience
• CPAP/BiPAP experience
• Non-invasive airway management experience
• Portable oxygen tank experience
• Pre/post thoracic surgery experience
• Tracheostomy management experience
• Continuous bladder irrigation experience
• Experience with Cerner electronic health record system

Licensure

• Must have an active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license

Required Documents & Compliance

• Valid US Driver’s License or State ID
• Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks within 30 days prior to start
• Education verification (degree/transcript)
• State-specific criminal and offender registry searches as required by Illinois
• Competency exam for clinical candidates
• Physical exam within one year of start, including labs
• Fit mask test (specific mask types required)
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within one year
• Immunizations or proof of immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
• Photo for badge (color, plain background)
• References: 2 professional references required

• Must work every other weekend
• Ideally no more than 5 days of return-to-office restrictions
• Parking permit required (no cost)

This position is ideal for experienced Medical Surgical Neuro RNs with strong telemetry, neurological, respiratory, and IV therapy skills looking for a night shift travel contract in Illinois.
