Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PACU
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Start Date: 04/27/2026
Shift/Hours: Alternating shifts; 3 days of 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM) followed by 3 days of 12-hour night shifts (7:30 PM - 7:30 AM)
Weekend/Holiday/On-Call:
- Weekend shifts required: 3 per 4 weeks
- Holidays required as scheduled
- On-call required: 1-2 twelve-hour call shifts every 6 weeks (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Floating required within specialty and other units as needed
Unit Description
- 12-bed Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) specializing in traumatic injury management
- Provides peri-anesthesia care for adults and geriatrics, including pre- and post-operative care for scheduled and emergency surgeries
- Supports trauma resuscitation and procedural overflow
- Nurses must be skilled in vasopressor titration, airway management, ventilator care, blood product administration, and fluid resuscitation

Required Licenses and Certifications
- Maryland State RN License
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maryland
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of recent PACU (Post Anesthesia Care) experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Competency in titration of vasopressors
- Experience in care of ventilated patients
- Proficient in blood product administration
- Skilled in fluid resuscitation

- TB screening (QGOLD, TSPOT, or 2-step PPD) with annual updates
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination proof
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer or declination (series not accepted)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap as applicable
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required for flu season
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start
- Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
- Employment application/resume within 30 days of start
- Work history verification for previous 5 years
Uniform/Dress Code
- Navy blue scrubs; pink scrubs for trauma assignments
- Pediatric department: navy blue scrub pants with child-friendly tops
- White short sleeve or navy long sleeve undershirts (pink if wearing pink scrubs)
- Business casual for certain departments (no jeans, no open-toe shoes, no sleeveless tops, no shorts)
Notes
- This is a specialized PACU role requiring critical care skills in trauma and perioperative nursing
- Weekend, holiday, and on-call availability is mandatory
- Floating within specialty and related units is expected
- Compliance with all health, background, and credentialing requirements is mandatory prior to start
