Registered Nurse - Stepdown Unit

Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Details

• Unit Type: 8E Stepdown (MedSurg Stepdown & Floor)
• Number of Beds: 34
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:

  • Stepdown: 1:3
  • Floor: 1:5-6
• Support Staff: 2-5 nurse aides typically on the unit
• Respiratory Therapy: RT available 24/7; ventilators present on unit
• Telemetry: Tele techs post strips each shift; RNs must be proficient in reading and interpreting cardiac strips

Shift Information

• Shift Times:

  • Day: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
  • Night: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Weekend and holiday work required (frequency unspecified)
• Possible floating to other units

Required Certifications and Skills

• BLS Certification required
• RNs are required to titrate drips
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting telemetry strips

Additional Requirements

• COVID-19 Vaccine Required (2 doses Moderna or Pfizer, or 1 dose J&J)

  • Medical or religious exemptions require approval through a formal process
• Driver’s license address must be outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
• Previous permanent candidates must have been off the unit for 2 years before reapplying
• Previous travelers must have been off the unit for 2 years after completing a full year
• Travel teams must be submitted together
• Only 2 candidates submitted per opening at a time
