Registered Nurse (OR Specialty) - North Dakota, Fargo

Job Details

  • Specialty: OR - RN Specialty
  • Location: Fargo, North Dakota
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Current RN license in North Dakota or Compact license
  • BLS Certification
  • Minimum 2 years recent OR RN experience (higher years of experience requirement applied)
  • Experience in a large hospital setting (250+ beds) with Level 1 trauma status
  • Experience working in an acute facility with 15 or more OR suites (outpatient center experience not accepted)
  • Experience with robotics in the OR, DaVinci preferred
  • Strong experience in Neuro and Orthopedic procedures; must be comfortable working in General surgery as well
  • Experience with general surgical cases including GYN, Urology, laparoscopic procedures
  • Experience with navigation technology for Neuro cases

Job Responsibilities

  • Circulating nurse duties including:
    • Documenting and caring for patients in the operative setting
    • Sterile prepping of surgical sites
    • Catheter insertion
    • Opening sterile supplies
    • Positioning patients for surgical procedures
    • Documenting within an electronic medical record system
    • Setting up and utilizing operating room equipment (e.g., cautery, lasers, laparoscopic and arthroscopy equipment, Stealth navigation)

Work Environment

  • 25 OR suites with 75 to 100 cases per day on average
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:1
  • May float rarely to other campuses if needed
  • Scrub color provided: Ceil Blue

Shift and Schedule

  • 8-hour shifts, possibly 10-hour days
  • Rotating call schedule: 1 to 2 days per week and every 3 to 4 weekends
  • May need to stay late as an extension of the regular shift (not considered call back)
  • Rotation includes PM shifts

Additional Information

  • Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are not eligible
  • Prior work with this facility requires a minimum 6-month gap before reapplying
  • All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility
