Job Opportunity: Medical Lab Scientist
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM)
- Float Requirement: None
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) experience in a hospital clinical laboratory setting, including Medical Technologist experience within the last year
- Blood bank experience including:
- ABO/Rh and Antibody Screen & Identification
- Antigen typing
- Blood banking procedures
- Blood irradiation
- Cord blood evaluation
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification of highest degree required for the position
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (does not include marijuana)
- Physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Immunizations and health requirements including:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years (preferred)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (with additional requirements if history of TB)
- Documentation of MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccines or positive titers
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
- Varicella vaccines or positive titer
- Annual flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
- Valid driver's license if driving is an essential job function
Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required (AHA or ARC)
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, and other certifications as required by unit or specialty (review specifics if applicable)
Competencies
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (must score 80% or higher)
- Color blindness testing (online or in-person)
- Other competency exams as required, with periodic renewal
Experience & References
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information
- For travel contracts, at least 1 prior travel assignment or 1 month of per diem assignment required

- No prior travel experience explicitly required for this position
- No float requirement
- Local travel radius within 60 miles of the facility
