Performs a variety of procedures requiring independent judgment and initiative in the utilization of ultrasonic equipment for the diagnosis of breast disease. Sonographer Duties and Responsibilities:

· Performs ultrasound imaging and therapy in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and policies, values, and mission of the organization.

· Adjusts equipment controls as needed to produce high-quality images and prepares/presents them, with other pertinent patient information, for timely interpretation.

· Educates patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment to be performed.

· Prepares the room and patient for the exam to be performed. Uses an established work pattern to work efficiently and safely within an ultrasound environment. Reviews patient history and the physician's orders.

· Educate patient regarding procedures, equipment, and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.

· Maintains accurate patient record keeping by properly identifying images and ensuring images are sent to the PACS system correctly.

· Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements. Adheres to safety policies.

· Other duties as assigned.

Sonographer Requirements:

· Bachelor's degree in diagnostic medical sonography or related field required or

· Associate's degree and certificate in diagnostic medical sonography required

· Or equivalent combination of education and experience

· Registered or registry eligible by the ARDMS

· BLS
