TRAVELERS MUST BE ABLE TO WORK 50% OF THE WEEKENDS IN THEIR CONTRACT. IU Health University and Methodist are teaching facilities and require all travel nurses to agree to the possibility of precepting and/or being assigned students to shadow them while on assignment. Please only submit candidates that are okay with these requirements. *** Call-Ins: If a traveler call-ins for a contracted shift, the traveler is expected to 1) make up the day during the pay period, if a 0.9 FTE. OR 2) if a 0.9 FTE and unable to make up during the pay period, then the shift will be added at the end of the traveler contract 3) If a 1.2 FTE, any call-in shifts will be added to the end of the contract*** Charge coverage: Pending operational needs, unit charge nurse responsibilities may be needed with provided training and resources.Certification Requirements: BCLS and ACLS preferredSkillset Requirements: Minimum 2 Year Experience Floating Requirements: Unit travelers may be expected to float to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) with resources provided if needed at both University and Methodist HospitalsStaffing Ratios: 1:5-6Traveler must have IN/Compact license in hand or have submitted their fingerprint application package for their license to apply for this position. Unit Information: This is an Ortho/Trauma med/surg unit. About 20% of our population is ortho, this is your scheduled hip and knee surgeries that we collaborate with the ortho team and have on the unit for about 24-48 hours. The rest is the trauma population, so MVAs, shooting/stabbings, falls, etc. These patients either come from an emergent surgery or ICU with many drains and tubes. This is a high acuity, fast-paced unit that requires teamwork and strong communication skills.Effective 11/30/24, IU Health will not allow IN RN s to work at their facilities (SEE EXCEPTIONS BELOW).**Periop/OR RN s, Allied and Ambulatory RN travelers are exempt from this rule. These IN travelers are allowed to work past the 11/30 deadline. Special Procedures/Unit Details : Level 1 Trauma Experience preferred Specialty experience of 3 or 4 on the scale (in either Ortho and Neuro) Those willing to function as Preceptors Preferred but not required. Charge Nurse experience preferred**Block scheduling is ONLY permitted if the traveler is agreeable to working Friday-Sunday Special Equipment : - #Tier2 Travel Compliance Travelers University must be accredited by the ACEN or CCNE at the time of graduation. SSN required at time of submittal DOB required at time of submittal RTO we can auto-approve 5 days of non holiday RTO or less. Anything more requires facility approval. Candidate MUST WORK 2 out of 3 major holidays. If 1 position is available, we can allow 3 submissions at one time. 18 months exp. required, however please refer to job description for any exceptions made depending on the unit License: Must be in hand prior to start date.
