ID: 63152729 Shift: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm Description: Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation, a JCAHO accredited health center, provides services to a 4,400 square mile area and serves as a referral center for the western part of the Navajo and Hopi Reservations. The hospital was constructed in 1975 with a bed capacity of 73. Services provided to the community include comprehensive inpatient/outpatient emergency services, dental and ophthalmology services, orthopedics, OB/GYN, oral surgery, eye surgery and urological procedures. Approximately 49% of the surgeries performed are out patient/ambulatory surgical procedures. Learn more about our organization. The Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation is located in Northwestern Arizona on the land known as the Colorado Plateau. This semi-desert landscape varies in elevation from 4,400 in the Little Colorado River Valley to nearly 7,000 feet at Preston Mesa. The unique community of Tuba City offers a culturally rich environment. The Native American tribes located and served here are the Navajo, Hopi, and Southern Paiute. This mixture along with Anglo, Hispanic, and African American employees of the hospital and school systems make a pleasantly diverse community. The staff of medical providers includes surgeons, general medical officers, internal medicine, psychiatrists, pediatricians, family practice physicians, obstetricians, ENT specialists, orthopedic surgeons, and urologists. Dental staff includes general dentists, endodontists, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, pediatric dentists, dental assistants and hygienists. The nursing staff includes registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, nursing assistants, community health nurses, nurse practitioners, nurse midwives, CRNA, and community health medics.POSITION SUMMARYThe Occupational Therapist I/II / Advanced Occupational Therapist I/II position serves to provide quality occupational therapy services to a predominantly Native American population for the rehabilitation of patients with various developmental, cognitive and/or mental, emotional, and physical disabilities by planning and administering medically prescribed occupational therapy. Responsible for assessing and interpreting evaluation/s and test results for patients ranging in age from birth through geriatric; determining occupational therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription and setting realistic treatment goals depending on the patient s physical, mental abilities, needs, and evaluation findings and/or diagnosis and documenting in electronic health records (EHR); evaluate results of occupational therapy by observing, noting, and evaluating patient s progress; recommending and implementing adjustments and modification to therapy plan; promote maximum independence by selecting and constructing therapies according to the patient s goals and needs; maintains the operation and organization of the Occupational Therapy program for outpatients and inpatients (regular work week, weekend services not available at this time, and depending on location of clinic-TCRHCC or SPHC); documentation of patient care services by charting in patients records; provision of specialty services to include but not limited to custom orthoses, sensory integration, cognitive treatment, activities of daily living; provision of specialty clinics (depending on location of clinic) including but not limited to Spinal Cord clinic, Functional clinic, Geriatric clinic, Assistive Technology/adaptive equipment evaluation/treatment, Durable Medical Equipment Prosthetic Orthotic Supply Program; assists with direction and development of the occupational therapy service to include continued quality improvement, risk management and safety; complies with federal, and state occupational therapy certification requirements and follow TCHRCC policy and procedures; complies with the Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics and Occupational Therapy Profession-Scope of Practice as set forth by the American Occupational Therapy Association; provide training and in-services for student and staff education; consult with rehabilitation team, and other health care workers (e.g., physician, nurses, social workers, etc.); and other duties. Responsibilities also include maintaining Medical Staff Credentialing Core Privileges.NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONSEducation - Bachelor s in Occupational Therapy from a school accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association's Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).Licensure Applicant must possess a valid, current, full and unrestricted license from the American Occupational Therapy Association and Arizona Department of Health Licensure or in any state within the United States, District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or eligible for licensure in Occupational Therapy in State of Arizona.Must have and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association.Credentialing:Applicant must meet requirements to be credentialed to serve on the Medical Staff. All related information required for credentialing must be provided.Experience: A minimum of one (2) year experience as a licensed Occupational Therapist. Must have strong orthopedic skills, since a majority of our patients are ortho patients.
