The goal of James observation is to provide high quality, efficient care, without discharging or admitting patients prematurely. Patients boarded from the ED and ICC in observation status. Patients are stable and unlikely to require an upgrade in care. Goal is for discharge in less than two midnights. Unit providers include APPs and supervising MDs. Ratio 1:4 with charge in an assignment.
