ID: 64275324 Shift: First Shift The Nuclear Medicine Department, part of Radiology, provides diagnostic and therapeutic Description: Job Summary:Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients, operating sophisticated imaging equipment such as gamma cameras, and analyzing the resulting images to assist physicians in diagnosing illnesses.Job Responsibilities:--35% Patient Care:-Prepare patients for nuclear medicine procedures by explaining the process, obtaining medical histories, and addressing any concerns or questions they may have. -Provide compassionate care and support to patients throughout the nuclear medicine procedures. -Address any patient concerns or discomforts and ensure their safety and well-being during the imaging process.--35% Radiopharmaceutical Administration, Imaging Procedures, and Image Analysis:-Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals according to prescribed protocols and guidelines.-Ensure proper dosage and injection technique to optimize imaging results. -Operate gamma cameras and other specialized imaging equipment to capture images of radioactive tracers within the patient's body. Follow established protocols for image acquisition and processing. -Analyze nuclear medicine images to identify abnormalities or areas of interest.-Collaborate with radiologists and physicians to interpret findings and assist in patient diagnosis and treatment planning.--10% Radiation Safety:-Adhere to strict radiation safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and yourself. -Maintain accurate records of radiation doses administered and monitor radiation levels in work areas.--10% Quality Control and Documentation/Reporting:-Perform routine quality control checks on imaging equipment to ensure optimal performance and image quality. -Troubleshoot technical issues as needed and escalate concerns to appropriate personnel. -Maintain detailed records of procedures performed, including patient information, radiopharmaceutical doses administered, imaging parameters, and image interpretations.-Generate accurate reports for inclusion in patient medical records.--10% Education:-Stay current with advancements in nuclear medicine technology, procedures, and safety regulations through ongoing education and professional development activities. -Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge. -Participate in the orientation of staff. Schedule Notes:The Nuclear Medicine Department, part of Radiology, provides diagnostic and therapeutic services for inpatient, outpatient, and ED patients, including general and cardiac nuclear medicine, therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals, and specialty exams using Digirad equipment.Hours are Monday Friday, 6:30 a.m. 3:30 p.m., with same-day inpatient studies when clinically appropriate. Weekend on-call and after-hours coverage supports inpatient, outpatient, and ED needs. Travelers must perform procedures within their competencies and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, quality care.Skills: Required Skills & Experience:-No experience required.-Accepts responsibility for words, actions, attitude, and results while meeting deadlines and performance expectations.-Practices effective, clear, and respectful communications (both verbal and written) and demonstrates attentiveness through active listening and engaged body language.-Collaborates, respects, and cooperates with all co-workers, valuing differences and addressing concerns directly, while actively contributing to the vision and results of the team.-Warmly, personally, and professionally greets all internal and external customers, promoting a high level of satisfaction by providing information about what to expect, actively listening, and intentionally following up on questions and concerns, including taking corrective action when necessary. -Strong understanding of nuclear medicine principles, radiopharmaceuticals, and imaging techniques. -Proficiency in operating gamma cameras and other nuclear medicine equipment. -Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, healthcare professionals, and colleagues. -Attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in documentation and record-keeping. -Commitment to radiation safety practices and compliance with regulatory standards. -Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment and collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team.Preferred Skills & Experience:-N/A Education: Required Education:-Associate's degree or higher required from an institution accredited by an agency that the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) recognizes OR An institution accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology (JRCNMT).OR-Graduate of the military's Nuclear Medicine Program.Preferred Education:-Bachelor's degree in nuclear medicine technology or a related field.Required Certifications & Licensure:-Active license through the Kentucky Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy.-BLS and ACLS.-Basic Dysrhythmia, Arrhythmia or ECG Course completion.-Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in nuclear medicine.Preferred Certifications & Licensure:-N/AJob Category: Clinical-Allied Guaranteed Hours: 36 Contract Weeks:83
